NHS Treatment

NHS Treatment

NHS orthodontic treatment is available to patients who are under the age of 18 and who satisfy the dental health criteria for NHS orthodontic treatment. A referral from your dentist is required requesting an NHS orthodontic assessment.

Most orthodontic treatment is undertaken when most or all of the ‘baby’ teeth have fallen out. Typically this occurs between the ages of 12-14 years. Certain problems do require an earlier referral, your own dentist will be able to advise you as to the most appropriate time to be referred.

However, if you find you’re not eligible for NHS treatment, or you’re interested in an aesthetic or low visibility brace, in that case we can offer you treatment privately.

Private Treatment

Private orthodontic treatment is available for most adults or children who do not qualify for NHS treatment. It can be carried out at any age and an increasing number of adults are having treatment. A wide range of braces are now available that are either invisible or less noticeable.Orthodontic treatment may involve fixed braces or a removable appliance, but in each case is tailored to the specific needs of the patient.

At Bedford Braces we offer a comprehensive range of private orthodontic services, including low-visibility aesthetic braces. Take a look at the following pages to find out more about these options:
